2025 Blue Jays

They really showed up for that Apple TV game!

They were leaning on their pitching a little too hard, so I'm not even mad that they finally got blown out. They need to get back to hitting better.

Between the home run in Florida (I'll at least concede a bit that playing in a minor league stadium the camera angles are worse than in an actual MLB stadium....except the call was still blatantly awful) and this "non-catch" it's hard to not feel a little like MLB is trying hard to give the Yankees the division. I'm sure we are more accurately blame it on incompetence and a general protection of umpires to not overturn their calls regardless of how bad they are.

Big win thouhg to hold on and clinch a playoff spot. The Yankees easy schedule down the stretch...coupled with them taking advantage of those games in a way the Jays haven't been able to do in late August/September keeps the race close.

Off day today to recover from the hangovers and then 6 games remaining.

Jays are in danger.

Last 8 games: 2 runs, 6 runs, 1 run, 0 runs, 1 run, 1 run, 8 runs, 1 run
Last 8 games: 6 hits, 11 hits, 4 hits, 4 hits, 2 hits, 4 hits, 12 hits, 3 hits

The Jays have 46 hits in their last 8 games. Their opponents have 43 runs against the Jays in their last 8 games.

Vlad Jr is 6 for 32 a .188 batting average, 1 double and an OPS of .431 over this stretch.

500 million dollar players can't go into slumps like this with the division on the line. Vlad doesn't have to be a 50+ home run guy...but he has to be able to produce in critical moments.

Guardians beat the Tigers - Cleveland takes over the lead in the Central division by way of tie-breaker. Detroit can no longer pass the Jays.
Yankees beat the White Sox - move to within 1* (2 because of tiebreaker) of the Jays for the AL East
Red Sox beat the Jays - move to within 4* (5 because of tiebreaker) of the Jays
Athletics beat the Astros - Houston can no longer pass the Jays
Seattle beat the Rockies - Open a 4 game lead on Houston and are 2* (3 because of tiebreaker) back of the Jays

Tonight the Jays play the Red Sox who bring Garret Crochet to the mound to face Max Scherzer

Last 5 starts:
Scherzer - 1-2 record 9.45 ERA
Crochet - 3-0 record 4.35 ERA

Yeah I was hoping clinching the postseason would free them up a little.

Not sure it has…

Yankees also getting hot at the right time from their POV.

Really hoping for an angry Scherzer rebound tonight. But that's all for not if the team doesn't start producing offense. All the wonderful "feel good stories" have subsided. Man if this doesn't highlight the need to sign Bichette, I'm not sure what does.

Springer had a ridiculous at-bat, a baseloaded fairball down the line was called foul, and then a third strike was called on a clear ball in the same at-bat.

Yes, that was horsesh*t. I also don't know why Schneider comes out after the foul ball to dispute something that's not reviewable. What are you hoping for other than an immediate horrible call against like the third strike?

How come home runs can be reviewed for foul balls? You cannot review an infield foul ball? Baseball is stupid.

3 hits through 7 innings. We are also wasting Berrios when we are planning a bullpen game tomorrow. Masterful decisions from Schneider
