2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Getting upset about things that haven't even happened yet seems like a great way to make your life miserable. Maybe wait until 3PM to catastrophize the day

Hard to argue. But what makes it so sad at the minute is it felt like they’d turned a corner for a while.

They just seem to be paralysed now. Afraid to do anything. Afraid to actually acknowledge their situation. That goes back to probably before Marner’s NTC kicked in but has gotten worse especially this season.
Totally agree. I was pumped in 2015, 2016, 2017 because I thought they had finally figured out what they needed to do. However, like a crack addict, they started smoking crack again.

Sorry, I am a straight to doom kinda guy. It's how I prepare for eventual disappointment. I like to spread it out over several hours, because if I have to face it all at once I don't handle it well. It's why I can appear really distraught during certain loses.

One of the super powers I got from being on the spectrum is no filter for my emotions. It's great because people find me genuine. It's bad because I can appear a little manic.

I think the dance partners have dried up, at least for the ones that would take on McMann, Laughton, and OEL. Plus there is still guys like Thomas, Trocheck, and Wright out there. To me, it looks like they overplayed their hand, and what is going to happen is that they fail to move the guys, and then they overpay them because the player has all the leverage at that point, so we just keep trotting the same garbage out next year.
I don't think OEL goes, but teams take on expiring contracts all the time, especially when they're as cheap at McMann & Laughton. I think the only thing stopping the Leafs from trading these pieces are the Leafs deciding the return isn't worth it. At this point any return for both these guys before the deadline is better than letting them walk in free agency.

Really need to trade them for anything and bring them back in the offseason if they are inclined to do so. They are doing nothing for the Leafs staying on the roster for the rest of this season.

I have no idea why you think they screwed this up. This is literally every single deadline. Deadline day moves don't happen until like noon
Seriously. There's been 2 trades so far. There's still plenty time to get stuff done by deadline standards. As the saying goes, if you have time, use it.

TSN just showed an infographic. We are currently outpacing the number of deadline day trades. 17 of the 24 trades last year happened in the last hour...and a handful of those don't even get announced until well after 3PM

I wouldn't get worked up about much of anything today as far as the Leafs go. The players we might trade are 2nd or 3rd tier (OEL perhaps excepted) and will bring commensurate returns.

Under Treliving's stellar leadership, we've devolved into a mushy middle team. That won't be changing anytime soon.
