2025-26 NHL Thread

So is the feeling here that three games isn't enough? 2-3 games (on top of the game misconduct on the play) seems to be standard for these types of hits, but maybe I'm missing something?

The standards are too low. That was a completely unnecessary and dangerous hit that was clearly from behind the whole way. A hit that could have resulted in a very serious injury. 3 games is basically a slap on the wrist. It doesn't do anywhere near enough to discourage these types of plays. The Department of Punishing Softly needs to be revamped.

The NHL as a whole doesn't really seem to give a shit. Tulsky brought up head shots at the GM meetings and everyone just yawned and moved along.

It wasn't remotely a "hockey play".

Greer hooks/holds Zary away from the puck...its interference/hooking. That puts him off balance. By putting him off balance he doesn't receive the puck. The puck goes into the boards and as they are heading toward the boards Greer shoves him from behind after already putting him off balance. He still has not played the puck at that point. It's boarding. It's dangerous.
