PIT
?Tristan Jarry (6-8-0, 2.47 GAA, .916 Sv%) will start for the Penguins
?It's been an up and down season for Pittsburgh so far. They started off going 3-6-0 through their first 9 games but followed that up with a 5 game winning streak. They've since gone 1-4-0, including a 3-2 loss on Friday night against Buffalo that saw them blow a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd period
?One bright spot has been the play of Erik Karlsson, who has 17 points in 19 games along with a 54.6% CF, 64.9% GF, and 55.6% xGF. That might not be Norris-calibre, especially with the seasons Makar and Hughes are having, but Karlsson is proving he can still be a legit #1 defenceman
?Tried to think of an interesting storyline that might connect these two teams but nothing immediately springs to mind. Maybe the media will dig some random connection up to make this one interesting

TOR
?Joseph Woll (6-4-0, 2.90 GAA, .909 Sv%) will start for the Leafs

Points are points but the Leafs have 5 regulation wins in 18 games.

It was nice that Reaves scored a goal but he still managed to be on the ice for another goal against (not really his fault when the defense threw the puck from behind the net onto Dickinson's stick but Reaves was standing in the middle of the ice.  The goal doesn't change how I feel about his overall play.

The Matthews-Marner-Knies line has really been mediocre for a while.  Matthews has 1G in his last 6 games and has 1G 2A overall putting up a point in only 2 of the 6 games.  He has 1 Even Strength point in his last 6 games.

While we need Matthews, Marner and Knies to be better, the team cannot continue to try and outscore their problems. Defensively they are a dumpster fire. They look like cats chasing a laser pointer in their own end and that is ultimately what is killing them.

Don't feel good about this one. Crosby's been on fire can see him potting another goal tonight and Guentzel has been quiet but we always seem to be the perfect remedy for players to get going. 1st line needs to get their sh*t together and I know it's tough with what we have but got to be better defensively. Laughed where I read that Keefe may be on the hot seat and another loss may be what costs him his job. LOL. He should never have been resigned and don't see him going anywhere at least not in the foreseeable future.

When Reeves plays we lose....simple, don't play him. Sorry Treebird, your first massive frikk up.

I dont get Keefe. Last couple games the 4th line was better with him out of the lineup and he gets put back in. Why? Maybe the Perry carry over from the 1st meeting. He didn't even play.

Overlooked in our usual grumbling is that Woll hasn't exactly set the world on fire.  We may all like how he looks in net better than Sammy but the results aren't THAT much better.  Jarry's stats are better, in tonight's matchup.

Hildeby sure is putting up the numbers down below.

Expectations for Woll definitely got a little out of control after his first 4 games, which is pretty standard for this fan base. But he has a winning record and a save percentage above league average so that feels fine for a rookie goalie who isn't supposed to be an undisputed #1 guy.

Also Jarry's been hilarious as a goalie this season. 3 shutouts, including another win where he stopped 20 of 20 shots in about 40 minutes of action. But also 5 games with a .852 sv% or lower. Source: confused Jarry fantasy owner.

Woll's the least of our worries. Bottom line is this team has taken a step back. All of the cap availability was dumped into forwards and a D man who struggled last year and who has declined the last couple years. None of the moves have looked great. Domi has been playing better and you can say the same for Bertuzzi but for as much as they have brought their 8 million or so and Klingberg's 4 should have been used to bolster the D and net minding. Promote a couple kids for the 3rd and 4th lines like Holmberg, McCann, Steeve etc bump Robertson up in Bertuzzis spot and run with it. They gain some experience and honestly wouldn't be doing worse than some of the guys in the lineup now.

Leafs wasted a point yesterday. Bruins are looking like their bubble is starting to burst giving up 12 goals last 2 days. Leafs have opportunity to make up some ground. See what team shows up.

The penguins don't put the 4th line out after a goal against.

I mean Keefe didn't either.  For some reason he does that when Reaves is in the lineup though.  It's perplexing
