TB
?Andrei Vasilevskiy (32-21-4, 2.63 GAA, .916 Sv%) will likely start for the Lightning
?Tampa heads into the playoffs this season not exactly on a high note. The Lightning are 3-7 in their last 10 games and have lost 3 games in a row. A match-up against the Leafs could be a preview of what's to come in the 1st round, or it could be a game neither team approaches with a significant amount of intensity

TOR
?Ilya Samsonov (27-10-5, 2.33 GAA, .919 Sv%) will likely start for the Maple Leafs
?Toronto's goalie situation is of course pretty murky. We'll have to wait and see what happens in regards to whether the team will be allowed to call-up Woll or if they'll be forced to turn to Samsonov again

I don't think Sammy starts this game. Maybe Sammy comes up a little sore this morning so they'll have to call up Woll and sign another ATO.

Just go double ATO in net
Yup. I don't see the league allowing them to call up Woll today if they didn't yesterday. There's no difference or am I missing something?

Leafs can just demote Knies to the Marlies and call up Woll so the cap works

To use the $0 emergency recall rule a team has to be forced into a position where they played the previous game with a shorthanded roster.

I think the argument in favour of the Leafs will be while yes they weren't forced into playing short in game #79 because they COULD have recalled Woll for that one, for game #80 they were forced into playing short because there weren't really any immediate roster moves they could have made at the time of the game to bring Woll up.

It'll be up to league discretion really, and they could always go back to "well you could have just not signed Knies the day before", but I wouldn't be surprised if they allow it now.

Since he signed his ELC after the trade deadline Knies is not eligible to be reassigned to the AHL.

Makes sense. Thx.

I thought players who were already part of the organization could be sent down, they just weren't eligible to play in the AHL playoffs.

Well this gummies things up!

For the record, capfriendly says they believe the Leafs will be able to recall Woll for tonight on emergency basis because they had to play short yesterday.

Post deadline a team can't send anyone from their active roster down to the AHL unless they were either called up after the deadline (like Woll) or coming off LTIR (like Dahlstrom).

Same rule is what prevented Nick Abruzzese from playing in the AHL after he signed his ELC last year. It's also what prevents the Leafs from say waiving Gustafsson right now and assigning him to the AHL to clear cap space.

Tampa is running an EBUG in their practice. Honestly, just go EBUG vs EBUG because it will embarrass the league and be really fun for the fans (and the couple of guys chasing milestones).

How about just no goalies and turn the nets around?

Really hoping this ends up being a nothing burger game.

Also, I thought Tampa was more banged up than they are. Part of me thinks they're a better team that has more depth than the Leafs and Point/Kucherov/Stamkos' point totals are nothing to sneeze at but Vasi hasn't been great and they're not playing well. It's kind of weird to see.

Do we know why Tampa's running the EBUG? I say we just withhold most of our good players from this one...

Just go six attackers, all game, both sides. Really make a farce of it.
