Game Notes

TOR
?Campbell (30-9-5, 2.69 GAA, .913 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?No update yet on Matthews or Muzzin, although both of them were expected to be with the Leafs on this road trip
?No update either on what kind of wacky line-up combinations Keefe will try out in this game, so don't read too much into the projected lines

TB
?Vasilevskiy (35-18-5, 2.49 GAA, .916 Sv%) will likely start for the Lightning
?Tampa Bay isn't heading into the playoffs as hot as they would probably like: they're 7-7-2 in their last 16 games and just 3-4-2 in their last 9
?Offensively Kucherov and Stamkos are doing their part with both of them having 14 points in their last 10 games. Brayden Point however has just 1 point in his last 8

Injuries

?Rasmus Sandin - Knee - Injured Reserve
?Ondrej Kase - Head - Injured Reserve
?Petr Mrazek - Groin - Injured Reserve
?Jake Muzzin - Undisclosed - Questionable
?Auston Matthews - Undisclosed - Questionable

I think we should just play Spezza with Marner for the next 5 games and see if Marner can bounce 8 pucks off his back and into the net.

I hope we see Matthews tonight. If only just to find out his injury isn?t serious enough to keep him out of the lineup for any sustained period of time.

This is probably going to bone us, but whatevs
Brandon Hagel: traded for Boris Katchouk and Taylor Raddysh, and a first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and 2024 NHL Draft (Tampa also received 2022 4th, 2024 4th)
16GP 3G 0A 3Pts

Toronto traded 2022 2nd, 2023 2nd, 2024 3rd for
Mark Giordano (50% retained): 15GP 2G 8A 10Pts
Colin Blackwell: 14GP 2G 0A 2pts

I'm trying very hard not to point certain things out about the Lightning because I know it'll inevitably come back to haunt me. Like how average-at-best Vasilevskiy has been for a little while now. Wait, godamnit.

Shutout and Hagel hattie coming right up, off a Nylander turnover, a bank shot off Blackwell's butt, and a Giordano own goal. Frick.

The Leafs have given up 237 goals in 77 games using Hutchinson, Woll, Kallgren, Mrazek, and Campbell in net.

The Lightning have given up 216 goals in 76 games using Vasilevskiy, Lagace, Elliott, and Alnefelt.  59 games out of Easy and 19 games out of Elliott.  Alnefelt/Lagace have combined to play the equivalent of 118 minutes.

Tampa concerns me because I do think they are a team that plays well enough to win games but is holding back to conserve energy given they have had two back to back long runs but the cap toll has caught up to their depth a bit.

Is it the worst thing of Tampa wins and keeps distance between them and Boston?

I?m not in favour of wishing for playoff opponents, I guess I?m just sick of Boston and don?t give a crap to see them again.

Keefe's "No extra concern with Matthews" T-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by his shirt.

Keefe is full of it.

Can anyone confirm if Matthews has jumped ship to Arizona because the Leafs couldn't hold off Columbus for the wildcard?

Would have loved to see Matthews back if only for the sake of my fantasy squad. Oh well, hope he rips it up in the Stanley Cup Playoffs!
