SEA
?Philipp Grubauer (5-7-0, 3.42 GAA, .881 Sv%) will likely start for the Kraken
?Seattle sits 11th in the Western conference and are on pace for just 74 points this season, quite a ways off from their 100-point season in 22/23

TOR
?Joseph Woll (7-5-0, 2.74 GAA, .916 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Keefe confirmed that Giordano will miss this game with a hand injury, but doesn't know how much time he'll miss beyond that. The Leafs held an optional practice on Wednesday so it's unknown exactly how the defence group will pair up without him

Max Lajoie has been recalled, but I doubt he sees any ice (unless Keefe is that mad at Timmins)

McMann comes back in for Reaves, and a Giordano-less defence appears.

There?s still plenty of space for a puck to go through? there are plenty of equipment options that are visor+full coverage protection

Woll hasn't been perfect on the season but I'm glad he's getting back to back starts after that performance against Florida.  His season numbers are really good but Sammy just hasn't stepped up for this to be a 50/50 share of the net right now.

Woll - .916 SV% on the season - .942 in October (4+ games), .899 in November (6+ games)
Samsonov - .878 SV% on the season - .841 in October (5 games), .905 in November (5 games)

Samsonov has been much better than the start of the year. He's less erratic in net compared to the start of the season but he is giving up a questionable goal pretty much every game.  Woll has had a couple of bad goals but a lot of his GAA problems seems to be the team defence just being atrocious.

Woll didn't have a good start to November and got hit a bit hard in a few games (Buffalo and Ottawa especially) and both those games I felt like the Leafs just quit, they might be my vote for the two worst efforts on the season.

Some of those numbers are on the poor defense the skaters in front of them provided. The skaters have not been nearly as good defensively as they were last year. Taking that into consideration, Woll's numbers are arguably not so bad. In the early going, Samsonov was victimized with some bad team D too. Team sport, etc ...

In our scramble to find a dman, I have asked myself "Is the goaltending Cup caliber?" (each to his own interpreting that vague question). My answer today would be 'probably not likely'

I know past iterations of the team have rallied around having a depleted lineup but man that defence sucks.
