Pretty big RFA swap

lol Montreal

Yup. Middle of the pack offensive team gives up one of their better offensive players and a draft pick for *checks notes* a player with a lesser offensive track record (better goal scorer, but much less overall offence). I guess they added some size and toughness, but, yeah.

EDIT: Also, Anderson trying to come back from a major shoulder injury (and a pretty terrible season prior to that).

Should we have tried sending them the rights to Clifford and a moldy cheese sandwich?

That's the biggest thing to me. I'd much rather bank on Domi rebounding from a crappy season (where his struggles can at least partially be attributed to the Habs misusing him) than bank on Anderson rebounding from a season where his struggles mostly seemed on him AND a major shoulder injury. While I know it's a small detail in the grand scheme of things the fact that it was Montreal who had to throw in a pick here is very comical to me.

I found that funny as well. Not a good look for Domi really. Torts will be yelling at him to play D soon enough.

It's funny, I somewhat facetiously mentioned a Kapanen for Anderson swap in the armchair GM thread awhile back with a belief that a) Kapanen had more value than Anderson and b) that Kapanen's value was nowhere near the value we ultimately ended up receiving. So, yea, this seems like a very nice haul for Clb..

Not bad? If he rebounds to his 28G/70 point season that's two years at a steal.  If he is only the 40-50 point player it's not a horrible overpay and its only two years that you are paying him there.

Not a bad deal. I think Torts will whip him into form.
