Grabo and Kuli

slapshot

New member
They've team up again for the Islanders. $5 m for Grabo, a little over $4 m for Kuli. That's why they are on the Islanders. Snow must be be hoping to move the team to the KHL to compete somewhere.

Won't surprise me at all to see Kulemin do well with NYI particularly if he gets PP time. Don't think he'll hit 30 goals again but a 50 point season wouldn't shock me. He's a better player than his last few years here suggest. With Clarkson (ugh) eating into his ice time he really wasn't going to be productive with the Leafs anymore.

Kulemin & Grabovski both signed four year contracts for a combined total of $36.75M.  They both had the chance to be reunited as their agent made certain of that.

Here's  the story:

I'm having a little trouble understanding exactly what Kuli and Grabbo did on twitter to Nonis and Carlyle...I don't quite understand the significance...please advise.

It's really nothing that's getting turned into something.

I wish Grabo and Kulie the best of luck on Long Island, but Get Over It, especially Grabovski. You already unleashed your tirade on Carlyle when you were bought out. Move on!!

Eh, I like it. Even the carrying a grudge bit. I miss the rivalry with the Islanders.

i thought it was cute....i think they're playing the part anyway..if you really wanted to slight your old bosses..you wouldn't invite them to do something that's mostly seen as fun and charitable

Steve Webb made me furious.

I think he went on to lots of community work post career, so that was nice to hear.

Ha - I'd forgotten about Steve Webb.

I don't see Kulemin and Grabbo fodder for a rivalry. Actually, I'd settle for a lack of rivalry in terms of competing for a top draft pick.

Actually, when I look at NYI, I'm just baffled by how they brainwashed Tavares into his contract. Seriously, that must be the best cap hit in the league.

Kulemin has 12 points in 24 games so far this season and has been playing most of his time with Tavares and Okposo, but also with Frans Nielsen.  His CF% is 53%.  He is averaging 15:17 per game, 1:46 SH and 0:20 on the PP.

Grabovski has 9 points in 21 games and has played mostly with Frans Nielsen and Josh Bailey.  His CF% is 55%.  He is averaging 14:33 per game, 1:36 on the PP.

I was just looking those 2 up the other day...I guess they're not lighting it up much in NY either.

Kulemin was such an enigma to me...I always wanted that guy to turn into a bruising 50-60 point power forward to go along with his strong defensive play.

41 point pace is pretty good for 15:00/night and no PP time.

Considering his lack of PP time and his total ice time, Kulemin's producing pretty well. 40 point pace for a guy who is basically not getting PP time is pretty good. Grabovski is a little more disappointing - though, I imagine the early season concussion has something to do with that.

With those linemates?

I'm pretty sure you guys are roommates...You're right, maybe that comment was a little misleading, that's kind of the pace I thought Kulemin would be on.  I was more wondering if he found his scoring touch of 2010-2011, but I'll give him credit for improving on his production of the past couple of years.

I should also add that Kulemin's spent about 55% of his 5 on 5 time with Tavares, slightly less with Okposo and the rest is split more evenly with Nielsen, Grabovski etc.  So he hasn't been solely with Tavares all year, but enough for Tavares to be his most common linemate thus far.

Read a few comments on Twitter that he and Tavares don't really seem to be a 'fit' like with Grabovski so I wonder if that will change soon.
