This one is going to be fun. I really don't have a sense as to how this is going to go after the round 1 series, but I do expect the Flames to be better than they were. Dallas (Oettinger) did a really good job defensively on them and as we are aware, Edmonton isn't quite as good in that department. I will go with Flames in 6, but I would love to see what this Oilers team can do if they move on.

I'm sure the Oilers goalies will be fine if Calgary peppers 60+ shots at them.

Flames in 5. The Oilers aren't going to be able handle them defensively. This is not going to be a a classic Battle of Alberta by any means.

McDavid is going to go off but the Flames aren?t playing Ottinger anymore.  Flames in 6

Shot were 48-28.  Shot attempts were 77-45.

Calgary is going to run over Edmonton in this series.  McDavid puts up 4 points and they lose by 3.  I think Calgary is going to find a lot of easy ways to score on Edmonton's goaltending.

McD needs to be better in his own end. His line looked terrible in the D zone. He was on the ice for 5 Flames goals. That game was only close because Markstrom wanted to follow Smith and have a seat. He made some good saves but overall he was terrible.

After watching that Lucic hit on Smith, I am okay with the five and game. He needs to do a better job of stopping and not initiating contact whether Smith spun at the last second or not. I am not particularly outraged by the play, however.

I think he got 5 and a game to try and defuse the situation. The Paul and Kadri hits were a lot harder.
Anyway Calgary has lost their way it seems and Markstrom hasn't saved them. Good on the Oilers though.

The score and time left in that game makes the Lucic hit worse. You're getting your ass handed to you and you just happen to run over the opposing team's starting goalie...The optics are not good. I don't think he gets another game, or a fine though. If Smith was hurt, it would be a different story.

A brief respite from the existential dread (and rage) that permeates everything today. Calgary still goes on to lose this game too.

I?m shocked at Calgary?s implosion.

It's still surprising but this feels more like a Markstrom-specific implosion. Tough to win a series with .850 Sv% goaltending and from the bits that I've watched he's let in some real doozies this round.

I guess but are they really that good a team? I know they had a very successful year but they had 4 forwards who scored 40+ points. By comparison the Panthers had 8, the Lightning had 7 and the Leafs and Avs had 6. As far as I can tell, none of their defensemen have ever received a Norris vote and their #1 guy, at least in terms of ice time, his best year prior to this year was one where he had 22 points. Markstrom had a big year and it looks to have carried them to big results in a pretty weak division.

I don't know, I didn't watch them much this year so can't say for certain but once you get past goaltending and their top 2 forwards, when you line them up with the other teams that really excelled this year it's hard not to see them as stacking up pretty badly.
