    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

Yes, absolutely. If Treliving can work his magic on an DNQ RFA mobile defenseman like Benoit (but puckier), then please do that. Whoever made the pitch for Florida to scoop up Gustav Forsling, hire that guy. As long as the D-man can really skate, I can dial back the ask on some of the puck...

Playoffs Round 2: Panthers vs. Maple Leafs

And the only reason Calgary got anything back was because Tkachuk made his intentions clear and provided options.

Should’ve done this against Florida, tbh.

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Good to see you again! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we don't need stars. I'm just saying (for years now) this star isn't working as advertised, so let's get different stuff and try a different way.

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Fans are born in the playoff drives. Do you know how many are in this because of 1993 or the early 2000s beating up on Ottawa? People care about the regular season the way people care about the first 3 quarters of a basketball game: only when they're already invested. It's not like the team is...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

That's a very fair point, and probably a bit tricky to identify; I surmise it comes down to playstyle at the foundation, and then psychological the rest of the way. But Bennett appears to clearly be one of them. Unfortunately his agent is well known to us and will goose that number unless...

2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I think most people would prefer the reverse arrangement: boring regular season (and paid accordingly), elevates in the spring. Being highly paid for superlative regular season production boxes the team out from better depth options, which seem to matter a buttload more in playoff serieses.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

I agree with that; the Leafs depth personnel, for the most part, are bad at winning pucks off the boards, so it's a lot of DZ cycle time and one-and-dones in the OZ.

ECF: Florida Panthers vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Pretty dirty rip by Stankoven off a nice turnover counter

lol The Hurricanes are playing (surprisingly) not ass-butt

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

I think Leafs zeitgeist focuses too much on getting the best skill per dollar on the cap, and not quite enough on players that own the boards where most of the game is spent. Florida's success is partly due to their really good players at reasonable cap hits (state tax laws help); but primarily...

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

Why are we paying more on the cap for Florida's sloppy seconds when we can just buy their pro-scouting staff off the cap?

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

That is a move that makes no sense for Duchene. I think we see assets moved to get Pageau or someone like that instead, and then clear out some of our bottom 6 driftwood for late picks and prospects in need of a change of scenery. I do want to find some way of getting Vincent Trocheck without...

Easton Cowan kicks off the tic tac toe go ahead goal deep in the third period against Rimouski Wow admin took my caption And Cowan with the dagger into the empty net to finish this off. Cowan was on the ice for every goal scored this game (including the Rimouski goal to open the scoring)...
