R1: Dallas Stars (C2) vs. Colorado Avalanche (C3)

Agreed. The score did not fairly represent how competitive the game was.

R1: Dallas Stars (C2) vs. Colorado Avalanche (C3)

Avs handily win the 1st 5-1. Game 1 winners win ~68% of the series.

R1: Winnipeg Jets (C1) vs. St. Louis Blues (WC2)

Binnington came across pretty quickly but Connor buried it before he could get all the way across. That puck was on its way almost before it got to Connor. He timed it perfectly.

R1: Winnipeg Jets (C1) vs. St. Louis Blues (WC2)

I didn't see any weak goals. Saw all the goals but didn't watch the whole game. From what I saw of it, it looked like Winnipeg deserved the result.

    2024-25 Marlies General Thread

He's arguably the Marlies best goalie (maybe best in the AHL) .. for the playoffs. If the Leafs need him, he'll be game ready.

R1: Carolina Hurricanes (M2) vs. New Jersey Devils (M3)

I recall looking at the Devils roster near the start of the season. I thought it looked pretty good. It was looking like they had the building blocks for a potential contender in a year or two. They got off to a decent start. Since the Four Nations, .460 hockey - worst of the playoff teams by...

R1: Vegas Golden Knights (P1) vs. Minnesota Wild (WC1)

Minnesota got off to a great start. They went into a tailspin that they've been unable to climb out of. Vegas has played pretty well all year. They have a PK problem but that's about it. I'm not as familiar with the western teams but this one doesn't look like a long series. I'd prefer Minnesota...

R1: Winnipeg Jets (C1) vs. St. Louis Blues (WC2)

Blues played .788 hockey (tops in the NHL) since Four Nations Cup So you pinch yourself and ask "are they doing the 2019 thing again?" I look at who rung up the 3.81 GFA in that period and I am not very familiar with a bunch of the names on the roster. Pleading more ignorance of western teams...

R1: Tampa Bay Lightning (A2) vs. Florida Panthers (A3)

Part of the tricky part of assessing these series is looking at how the teams finished the season. Panthers did not finish very strongly. But I don't think they deeply cared. Once their playoff spot was secure, it seemed they were mostly interested in resting their players or getting them...

R1: Dallas Stars (C2) vs. Colorado Avalanche (C3)

I find the western matchups tougher to assess. Don't see them enough. I thought there were special moments when Colorado played the Leafs that they presented the finest hockey I'd seen all season. Saw some of them play well in the Four Nations Cup. If there was a western series I would want to...

R1: Washington Capitals (M1) vs. Montreal Canadiens (WC2)

There is a team defense issue. They allege an upper body injury to Thompson in early April. He resumed skating earlier this week but hasn't faced any shots. And he'll start in top playoff form on Monday? I sincerely doubt it. Their 30 goal scorer Protas isn't even skating yet. Dmen Roy &...

R1: Washington Capitals (M1) vs. Montreal Canadiens (WC2)

Caps, with Ovi's quest, really dropped off from Mar 1st Habs really came on from Mar 1st and added Demidov at the end of the season. Caps goaltending dropped off. I doubt the Habs will beat the Caps but I think they'll put up a decent fight

2024-25 .659 pts win% is the 6th best in Leafs history for a franchise that has won 13 Cups Edit: worth noting the core 4 have delivered 4 of those top 6 seasons which are all top 10% results in NHL history
