I would hazard a guess that Gimenez was partly (and maybe mostly) acquired to take over at SS after Bo walks/is traded. I guess the question is, what moves follow this one? Hopefully the added salary with this move doesn't prevent them from adding some legitimate offense.

I'd also add that we're watching a team that isn't nearly 100% healthy. There are significant holes in this lineup and the Leafs are still finding ways to win and (gasp!) continually hold leads. I'm very curious to see this team play as a healthy, fully Berube-initiated squad.

I think the problem with Benoit is that he is only serviceable as: a) a decent 6/7/8 depth defenseman or b) supporting (and being lifted by) a legitimate top 4 pairing partner. This problem is exacerbated by Benoit being partnered with Timmins, who, at best, falls under these same usage...
