I'm regretfully bucking the trend here but only very slightly: Cowan HM Stolarz PK as a whole was great too.

Obviously it was tough to predict Marchenko would be acquired 3 months later but he really makes Roslovic kinda redundant. He was very clearly meant to provide the right-handed offensive option for Matthews and PP1 that's now filled by Kirill. I think he's still got value especially as an...

Combining this with the fact that this is basically the Habs exact same team from last season I was kind of expecting a deflating blow-out here. So I'll take a close-ish loss.

Don't see any reason not to keep this unanimous: Nylander HM Marchenko

Good timing...

Question was about Marchenko, not Merzlikins. It doesn't look like any details about Kirill's deal has been released yet aside from the basics.

Merzlikins recovery period was expected to be 4-6 months, with his surgery taking place a month ago. So barring a set-back he would be expected to return at some point this season.

Chayka says that Wood will start with the Marlies and get a chance to work his way back to the NHL. His contract will likely never look good but I still think there's some potential there as far as a 4th line player goes. His and Duhaime's speed would be crazy together if he can.

Top-6 goes from Knies, McMann, and Maccelli to Marchenko, McKenna, and Roslovic. That bottom-6 has just one player who would crack this years team (Roy).

This reminds me the Leafs never brought in a cap guy to replace Pridham in the offseason.

Some notes here. Andrae's inclusion makes some sense here. Still miffed about the 2nd rounder. Especially with all the "nobody could offer anything close to Knies!" talk.

Didn't think to look at the before. Marchenko was placed in the "Tier 3: All-Star" section, with a rating of 3C (Nylander for comparison was in the same tier but given a 3A rating). Other forwards given a 3C were Keller, Point, Necas, Bratt, Scheifele, Bedard, Wilson, and B. Tkachuk. This was...

Funny thing I saw a post on reddit that said all 3 of Knies' GMs have tried to trade him (if you include the alleged Dubas deal that would have had him go to Chicago for Hagel).

You very likely remember former Lightning Nick Paul: Former sen too before that.

I think he's one of those guys that will turn the grit on when needed (playoffs and plays like when he ran over that one Ottawa player and fought Hischier come to mind), but he isn't really an everyday daunting power forward like Tom Wilson or something (his body would probably fall apart).

Knies for Marchenko I think should have been an even trade straight up basically. Lorentz for Woods is probably advantage Columbus. Woods has 1 additional year left on his deal and carries a $1.15mil higher cap hit. Woods has more of a track record with producing in the NHL though. Then we take...
