Not intentional but Anderson stomped on McCabes ankle and got him with his skate. Not a great sign that he left the game after that

Ok Marchenko is awesome. Hes a big body and his speed is going to be a problem all year. It looks likes he's trying to force things a bit but man we have no line chemistry outside of Tavares/Nylander with so many new forwards

    2026 Training Camp Thread

Sorry I didn't mean that he came in bigger just that I think the way he plays would be better suited in the 210s. He does go through guys at times but I think his foot speed lets him down at times if he is going to continue to try and play a skill game over a heavier style.

    2026 Training Camp Thread

Now that he isn't a Leaf...can we talk about how slow Knies looked in camp. He's running at a bigger weight but he doesn't really use it to complete effectiveness. I was really hoping he would have slimmed down a bit to help improve his speed.

Leafs acquire and extend Kirill Marchenko

I agree that I don't get why the 2nd was included. Knies for Marchenko. We were talking about him being the centrepiece of a Werenski trade in the summer. Marchenko is the better player. Knies is signed long term at a great cap hit. He's not overpaid today and if he grows into his deal...

Leafs acquire and extend Kirill Marchenko

I don't get the 2nd on top there. We basically traded Woll AND Knies for Marchenko, cap dump and an overpaid Miles Wood (2.5M) Seeing how Knies plays against Tampa be prepared for him to score 15 goals against us this year

Leafs acquire and extend Kirill Marchenko

12.5 seems fine after getting one more year under 4. Leafs better not be adding more to the trade though

Leafs acquire and extend Kirill Marchenko

The flip side is Columbus also has no cap space...so they would need to clear almost 4M in space to fit Knies in this year if it was a 1 for 1 trade. The Leafs can take on Marchenko if Knies goes the other way. Columbus can't without shedding salary.

Leafs acquire and extend Kirill Marchenko

That's kind of my thinking. If Marchenko is getting an extra 5 million dollar cost on top of Knies salary I'm not sure its worth a 1 for 1. Kirill is the better player at this point in time (2 years older than Knies) Marchenko is making 3.85M this year so the Leafs have to move 4 million...

Ummm....I'm not sure if I like the smoke pluming around Marchenko or not.

    2026 Blue Jays

A great final start for Scherzer. Springer got a hit to go out on. That's great. Max actually was decent after he came back at the end of July. 4.14 ERA (3.82 FIP). I don't think I'm comfortable relying on him back again next year if he decides to pitch but I could see him wanting to give...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

I'm kind of surprised that Rifai and Tverberg cleared. Not necessarily guys who blow you out of the water but they seem like take a shot players that are easy enough to put back on waivers if they don't work out

    Preseason: sens @ Leafs - Sept. 23rd, 7:00pm - SN1

I didn't think the team looked terrible in the Montreal game (although the underlying metrics did). Obviously they looked much better last night. It's still preseason games. Its still meaningless hockey. Usually October hockey is pretty terrible with high scoring/bad defensive efforts. I...

    2026 Blue Jays

The offense is so bad that I think the manager decisions gets wiped away but I feel like the coaching/in game decision making has been very poor. Clement has a .465 OPS since the beginning of August. He's clearly hurt. Schneider just plays him every day regardless of result. Vlad Jr staying...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

I wonder how true that is about the offence. With an absolutely dreadful season last year the team put up 253 goals. They also gave up a dreadful 299 goals. That was a team that had Matthews, Nylander and Knies injured and playing through injury. It was a blue line that had McCabe hurt...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

I think the biggest thing about Shapiro is think of him less as the Xs and Ox guy and more of the guy who spearheaded the renovations to the training facilities in Dunedin....the retrofits of Buffalo during COVID, and the revamping of the Skydome. I think Shapiro is more of what you want in a...

    Preseason: Canadiens @ Leafs - Sept. 19th, 7:00pm - SN1

That's definitely going to be part of his development curve. I think there were a few plays where he had a great set up and his teammates weren't expecting the puck to get there. That will come with chemistry. Where he seemed to struggle a bit was when he was closed off and didn't have the...
