So what is the point of signing Blankenburg if we aren't going to work him into the lineup? I'd want to get him at least one game here before setting him for the revenge game against Colorado. I like Stecher and his gumption but he hasn't been so great that he's locked in.

It'll be a very tricky puzzle to land any D of note, like Edvinsson or Werenski or even Nikishin, barring Rielly going the other way (NMC says hello). a) The Leafs are currently at 50 SPCs so any move has to be in and out. b) The Leafs next season cap hit needs to be cap compliant (tagging...

When has Button ever been... on the button?

All in due time. If we're shooting from the point or the flanks, you need puck retrievers and slot clean up. I think we have enough weapons to run two relatively even and balanced PP units that sort of compete against each other. Right now it is both too skilly and too easy to disrupt...

This also forces Willy to tarp on before any post-game remarks

Let's see which one has that game-play eidetic memory like Crosby and Stamkos do Edit: yo they forgot to edit

The first one is just game stats stacked. He was on ice for some suboptimal events. The second one doesn’t seem to have much weight on PK but gave a chunk of credit for drawing a penalty.

It’s essentially still preseason in terms to getting their legs and brains going, on top a new system and play philosophy. Not time to panic about the luck based results, but they definitely need to bear down on process and make sure their execution rate hits a higher consistency.

A) this really shouldn’t have been a goal lol B) check out that good work by Sissons to make space for Tavares galloping through McKenna’s goal was built up by a lot of good work by Roslovic and Matthews, which he wasn’t getting nearly as much puck control support with Tavares’ penchant for...

These are single game reads, and slightly differing models of interpreting the recorded metrics, but the picture painted is relatively consistent. Spread out the skill that was sheltered on the original L2 and make a more balanced top 9. I like Hiller adjusting to the hot hands, other than...

The Claude Giroux model is how the Leafs should develop Tavares’ evolution. Which of his strengths are still at a very high level? Lean on that and buttress the rest with his linemates and deployment. They need to separate Nylander and Tavares. Nylander covers the transition game and feeds him...

We needed more of this exact sort of thing on the PP

MotM: Matthews HM: Tavares Hard to leave off Roslovic and McKenna and Willy who all had moments

A 5th 1OA goal has hit the net Willy made that happen
