Looking at Hyman a little more, these are his stats while playing alongside Matthews and Marner in his last 2 seasons (using games played where the trio played a minimum of 6 5-on-5 minutes together, although most of these had them playing 10+): 19/20: 29 GP, 11 goals, 11 assists, 22 points. 82...

I think he's still young enough that it makes total sense for a team like Philly to take a chance on him. If you can get him back to his 21/22 and 22/23 seasons they're laughing. If not they're out a (rather good) 4C and a couple of picks (which they have lots of) and he doesn't get qualified...

I was all for Toews but holy crap this is a completely insane contract for him. Toews can earn as much as $7mil this season through games played bonuses and if the Jets win the Cup. He'd get $5.25mil if he plays 60 regular season games and the Jets make the playoffs.

I like the idea of Reilly Smith but everyone seems to have him in the $4-5mil range which seems pretty high for a 40 point 34-year old. Maybe he had Leafs pajamas growing up and wants a bit of security after bouncing around 4 teams in the past 3 seasons to get that AAV down.

Marchment may be slow and lack playoff success but he's still got a perfectly fine contract for a physical 20 goal, 50 point forward. Even needing cap space I'm actually surprised they couldn't get a little more for him. Guys like Dumba and Lyubushkin are who are gonna need sweeteners.
